Rachir serves as a little bit of everything. He is a front line fighter due to his thick armor and unusual toughness, buffs the party with his auras, and can serve as a healer thanks to his touch of vitality. He is best known for his squeaky, high-pitched voice and his sometimes childish mannerism.

Physical Description

Rachir is about 2'9" making him shorter than most halflings. For a kolbold, he looks particularly built, perhaps because of all the armor he likes to wear. His brownish red scaly skin has flashes of copper. His wingspan is about 5', and his scales there are all copper. His head is shaped kind of like an alligators with a shorter nose, and his mouth is filled with teeth like a dog's, but his back teeth are flat like a herbivore's. Over his eyes are two thick horns that are typical of a copper dragon. His eyes are a shiny brown, like they're trying to blend the copper and brown in his scales. Rachir typically wears his breastplate along with some dirty clothing that looks like a long tunic and shabby pants. His belt is lined with pouches and alchemic items, all tools for his craft of trapmaking. The helmet Rachir wears looks like a Roman's centurion helmet except that the part covering his horns and side of his head is chainmail rather than solid plates. Rachir's heavy steel shield bears the symbol of Hlal and rests on his back outside of battle, his wings curled over it, and his morning star looks like a ball with teeth, a green crystal set in the pommel. The medallion Rachir wears depecits the holy symbol of Tamara, shining gold and silver. The horn Rachir now bears is solid, the top of it plated with gold, bearing the symbol of Io.

History

Rachir was hatched from an unusually shiny egg, and when he did, he was just as shiny. Flecks of copper blending with the dull brown of a typical kolbold, a strange blessing and curse. His parents would come to say that his first smile looked mischievous. Rachir was immediately blessed and underwent the Draconic Rite of Passage and was bound to Hlal and copper dragons and signal him as an exceptional kolbold. Rachir's father, Tiburfaestir, had some natural magic talent and was employed as a manager of the west area of Charirverthicha. As a young kolbold, Rachir would always hide his father's quills or papers in an effort to play with him, only to be dragged back to his own chamber and forced to studying mining methods and trap-making. At the age of 7, Rachir began working in the mines himself, his unusual strength allowing him to produce more gold from the mine than most kolbolds and his brand of kolbold jokes nearly halting production at other points. Yet, Rachir would come out late at night to practice his trap-making in the form of practical jokes, a small subtle pit fall, or maybe even a burning pick axe, and impressed his friends with his trap-making skill. This did not impress his parents or the mine bosses. Rachir was first punished by losing his access to the alchemic items in the west mines, yet Rachir persisted and kept making small traps with what little he could scrounge for himself from the west mine's stores. Rachir was able to form a trap that dropped enough rubble to half production for half a week and Tiburfaestir, convinced his son's copper seed was too much to control, and despite his trap-making skills, banished him from Charirverthicha. Rachir still explores the mysteries of the copper dragon and Hlal. Since his banishment he as learned Common and attempts to get along with the over-worlders.

Characterization

Rachir is looking for a new family to belong to and plans to devote himself to that family like a kolbold should. Trying to keep his copper inhibitions inward, Rachir doesn't tell as many jokes as he used to, or play as many tricks with his traps, fearful of the consequences. Throughout his travels, Rachir makes his attempts to bond with the over-worlders, even with gnomes despite the natural enimity kolbolds seem to have with them, seeing much of his copper half in the gnomish culture. Perhaps it is Rachir's attempt to bond his copper dragon and kolbold halves together.

After being rescued by the party, Rachir believes he has found acceptance and a family. What this will lead to is anyone's guess from here.
